This is a delayed post but I just wanted to say that the tea lounge at regent hotel is officially my favourite hi tea buffet venue for weekends. Other than the fact that it was extra special because it was the first time ys and I were having hi-tea buffet together (after all these years together), there were so many things to love about afternoon tea at tea lounge.
I love its long seating from 1.30pm to 5.30pm and the fact that there is generous space between the tables. This also means its a great place to bring kids because there is definitely space for your strollers! Service was impeccable and the buffet spread was a good mix of dessert and savoury items.
My favourites were the crepe with mixed berries, walnuts, vanilla and caramel sauce, which was freshly prepared at the live cooking station; the scones which came with traditional lemon curd (first time I’ve come across at buffets) and fresh cream; man tou (bun) with chilli crab sauce; and roast lamb.
Drinks are free flow and what amazed me was the huge selection of teas, ranging from caffeine free fruit teas to various kinds of green tea and black teas. The drinks menu also includes coffee and hot/iced chocolate. You’re allowed to have up to three different kinds of drinks so I had two glasses of iced chocolate, one pot of vanilla rooibos tea and a cappuccino. :p The drinks were enough to keep me very happy!
I had a lovely time there and would definitely return! It was well worth the $48++ we paid for per pax.
[tip: instead of parking at regent hotel, park at tanglin mall! On weekends and public holidays, tanglin mall charges a flat fee of 3.50, which is super cheap for town! Look for the traders hotel sign when you exit from the lift and regent hotel will just be next door!]
